Edinburgh To Do List (27 Aug-2 Sept 08)

Alexander Heim: Doggerfisher, 11 Gayfield Square (between Elm Row and East London Street); 31 July-13 Sept; 1000-1800 (1700 some nights)

Where does the natural world end and the urban environment start? This is one of the themes raised by Heim’s first UK exhibition of sculpture, paper and other art forms. Coyotes in northern America are one striking example, as are Edinburgh’s urban foxes and banning of climbers from Salisbury Crags. One of the Edinburgh Art Festival exhibitions. FREE.

Alistair McDonald: Wee Folk Club, Royal Oak, 1 Infirmary Street, Edinburgh; Friday 29 August; 2030

Wide varied range of musical tunes, this musician is constantly surprising. Electro-acoustic to music hall ditties and traditional music. Enjoy this chance to catch this performer in an intimate, friendly venue and get more than you bargained for! Tickets £5; buy on the door.

Ladies Driving Challenge: Edinburgh Zoo, Corstorphine Road; 31 August; 0900-1700

Are women just no good at driving? Prove the insurance statistics (they have less accidents) by tackling the challenge of driving a police car, fire engine, articulated lorry and trailer, double-decker bus, golf buggy, black taxi, grass karts, quad bikes and diggers. No animals will be harmed in this event. Hopefully. £95 sponsorship required. Call 0131 314 0374 to find out more.
