Get your running shoes on! The Edinburgh Arthur Bartlett Marathon 2009 is now open for entry. Unlike previous years, and after consultation with previous runners, the organisers have decided that entry will be on a first-come-first-served basis. The race will be held on 31 May 2009.
This could be your only chance to re-wear your fancy dress costumes - see, they were value-for-money.

From 2007-8, the marathon had a massive 85% growth in participant numbers, to hit 10,230. The 2009 event will have a maximum entry of 11,500. And for those who do compete, there will be a technical Asics running shirt instead of the cotton finishing shirt in most marathon goody bags.
Not a marathon expert? There’s a haggis relay race, where teams can split the race in four. Plus you can find Edinburgh marathon training programmes on their website.
