Should Girls be Allowed in Edinburgh?

“A snippet.” That’s what The Girls (Girls Aloud) announced fans at Edinburgh Castle were getting this weekend, as they played Edinburgh Castle on Friday night (25 July 2008). Only an hour of a show and 2 outfit changes. Certainly not the full concert which their world tour attendees had enjoyed. So did fans get value for money, at an arguably inflated £40 per ticket?

Visually, the show was striking, with provocative outfits designed by Welsh designer Julien McDonald and firesticks around the Castle itself. What might have saved the show would have been the free chocolate bars distributed thanks to a sponsorship deal with Kitkat – but Edinburgh’s crowd was not lucky enough to receive these.

As their third arena tour and fourth tour in total, Girls Aloud should be getting slick at touring if not hot at performing. Average performances and good chat meant this was a show for real fans not fair weather supporters.

What do you think? Were the Girls up to scratch?
