George Street set for Starburst

Edinburgh's Opal Lounge, celebrity hang-out and George Street highlight, will re-open on Thursday September 11, after a 2-week £200,000 revamp. Montpeliers, who also run Tigerlily and Lulu, are introducing a new range of 'mimimum spend' packages to give extra exclusivity.

David Johnston, Development Director at Montpeliers (Edinburgh), said: “Opal Lounge is a decadent venue and the sumptuous surroundings reflect the attitude the place has somewhere a bit naughty to go late on a night out.

“It was time to inject some exclusivity back into the place and make it reflect the very height of luxury today and make that accessible to Edinburgh’s party set. We want it to be quite sultry, but mischievous at the same time. By interspersing absolute darkness with flashes of gold light I think we have really captured the essence of opulent mystery we wanted to create.”

Bored with the old VIP treatment, where anyone can get in? So what do you get for your money with this new scheme? Well, £125 will entitle you to champagne and spirits at your table. Ideas like this, which keep the riffraff out are definitely the reason the discerning stars like Kate Moss, Keifer Sutherland and Prince William flock to the Opal.
