Knowledgeable and interesting, the Tour Scotland blog is well worth a look if you're heading to Scotland or would like to know more about your home if you live there. The blog doesn't focus on Edinburgh or any other one part of Scotland - its scope is broader.

The blog is a mix of what's happening today in Scotland (for instance a farrier shoeing horses) with info about Scotland's past and her social history. Not so sure about the scanning of calendars and postcards - it seems not much to base a post on and could be considered a bit uninspiring.

The adverts are a wee bit much, particularly their location. But the weather, journey planner, photos of Scotland, Scottish news listings and blog lists cancel this annoyance out. It's an up-to-date library of info about Scotland - so its a good starting point to catch up with Scotland's diverse identity.

The blog dates back to 2004, though with infrequent posts for several years. The breadth of Scottish sights, depth of knowledge and the author's underlying love for his native soil are the main messages from this blog. There's plenty of space for more posts on Edinburgh - so will keep an eye on this blog from now on...
