Like a flower, the Edinburgh Fringe is only around for a short time. Like a weed, the Edinburgh Fringe keeps growing, with over 31,000 performances, 18,000 artists at 247 venues in 2008. With the big names getting booked up and doing world tours, the organisers already have their eyes on arranging the 2009 Fringe.

Develop a Critical Eye

With 24 awards on offer, there’s plenty of encouragement on offer for performers to do well. Write your own reviews, obviously after discussion with your friends over dinner – and let other Fringe-goers know what flies and what dive-bombs.

Fringe Festival 2009 Edinburgh Apartments Tips

• Book your Edinburgh apartments early so you get your first choice, just as with your ticket selections
• Don’t know Edinburgh’s locations? West End, Royal Mile and City Centre are all great bases for your festival exploring. The Fringe Festival ticket office is on the Royal Mile – and there are literally hundreds of venues throughout the city, so just choose the area that sounds most attractive
• Select your preferred type of apartment – most Edinburgh apartments are part of a tenement block, with a common stairwell. Ground floor apartments can be noisy; it’s better if they are set back from busy streets. Some apartments for rent have box rooms, which don’t have windows – check you know what you’re booking.
