8-31 August
Sing in the Edinburgh International Festival 2008’s Festival Chorus. If you’re a singer based in Scotland you can audition – so good luck! Other performers, of classical music, theatre, opera and dance have to be specifically invited by the Festival’s Director, so the bar is set pretty high.
010508 EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL PROGRAMME NOW RELEASED!
For 3 weeks in August you can experience the talents of all the visiting classical musicians, dancers and actors who are performing.
Sparky performances are definitely part of your festival experience. For actual fireworks, book your ticket for the Bank of Scotland Fireworks Display, which marks the end of the International Festival. Classical music is especially composed for this event, to compliment the pyrotechnics overhead.
And even if you can’t get tickets, the music is broadcast on radio, so you can grab a radio, dress up warm and join the crowds on Arthur’s Seat, Calton Hill and Princes Street – for a very special evening.
Key Festival venues are the Usher Hall (capacity 2,300), the Festival Theatre (1,800), The Edinburgh Playhouse (2,900), the King’s Theatre (1,300), the Royal Lyceum Theatre (650), The Queen’s Hall (920) and The Hub (420); plus other smaller venues for more intimate gigs. Likewise, your Edinburgh festival accommodation could be a cosy Edinburgh New Town studio apartment, or a more roomy Edinburgh Grassmarket group apartment that sleeps 10!
2 April 2008 is when the Edinburgh International Festival 2008 programme is launched.
