Whisky, Waterfalls and Loch Tours
Sample Scotland's finest assets - its whisky, its scenery and its history. Choose one of our many Perthshire tours and you could:
- Tour the Famous Grouse Experience, formerly the Glenturret Distillery
- Take a stunning nature walk through a gorge at the Birks of Aberfeldy and a stop in the historic medieval city of Dunkeld, founded by Fergus, the King of the Picts. Kenneth McAlpin, Scotland’s first king built a stone church here in the 9th century to house the remains of a very famous saint
- Journey through the Celtic heartlands in the central Highlands taking in the waterfalls in Birnam forest, Pitlochry, the Queen's View and the splendour of Loch Tay, an area abundant with standing stone circles
- Visit Gleneagles, Glen Devon and finally Glenturret, where you can take a tour of Scotland's oldest working malt whisky distillery (Est. 1775). Illicit distilling allegedly took place here in 1717
- See Loch Tay’s Iron Age dwellings, its crannogs, built around 5000 years ago and still used as defensive dwellings until the 17th century. Travel on through entrancing villages – Kenmore, Aberfeldy and Fortingall
- Enter Scotland’s longest glen and visit Europe’s oldest tree, ancient even when Pontius Pilate (they say) was born close by
- Stop at the Queen’s View, enjoy the same spectacular views over Loch Tummel and the majestic Schiehallion (most shapely of Scottish Mountains, so sacred to the Picts) that so overwhelmed Queen Victoria
- Walk in the hermitage near the quaint charms of the historic cathedral town of Dunkeld; whilst from Ossian’s Hall, a Victorian 'folly', you can view a spectacular waterfall, where salmon leap in season, and gaze in awe at Britain's tallest tree.
