Staying in this location means you are close to Princes Street, The Meadows and the Grassmarket. For Edinburgh events, you can easily walk to the Pleasance Festival venue and the Spiegeltent in George Square. Or even better, hail a pedal taxi for a more fun ride.

You may wish to see the famous University of Edinburgh, one of Scotland's oldest universities. Highly recommended are McEwan's Hall and the the Gothic towers of Teviot (just by Potterow). Here you can sit in the square, take in the history and enjoy the gymnastics of the skateboarders who sometimes frequent this area.

George IV Bridge is an ideal place to head for if you are interested in some research. This is where you will find Edinburgh City's Central Library, which has an excellent Scottish section and also the National Library of Scotland.
