May 17 is the opening day for Cancom, Europe’s largest Apple retailer who are launching their first Scottish store in Edinburgh. Nicolson Street, in Edinburgh’s southside, is the location that this multinational has chosen. This was previously the Scotsys store.
Part of their opening celebrations involves giving away Apple ipods according to local radio adverts. But this is just the beginning of an ambitious development of the company’s Scottish base. “This year we are planning another three or four and the opportunity to acquire an existing and established store in the capital city of Scotland is a great step forward for us" says Max Wright, Managing Director, Cancom.
Apple enthusiasts will be able to drool over the latest ipods and accessories, Apple software and airplane-like Macs. Just as their customers will be adding to their collections, Cancom’s collection of UK stores is also growing. The Guildford-based company now has stores in Kensington, Cambridge, Brighton and of course Guildford.
Scotsys are changing their business focus, with the sale of their last retail store. Director Graham Bucknall said that the Scottish public sector and the SME market are where Scotsys have both the majority of their business and expertise.
