Background

Edinburgh Jam House was once the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) house. This is no surprise, as both Edinburgh and Birmingham Jam Houses are known for their acoustics. The Birmingham Jam House sister live music venue has played host to Chaka Khan, The Stylistics and The Specials, as well as of course Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra (famous from BBC2’s Hogmanay Hootenanny show). It has welcomed, as guests, diverse musicians including Ocean Colour Scene and Bill Wyman.

Jools Holland is one of the ideas men behind this special blend of over 21s entertainment. Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra do play at this venue when possible; he is famous for (amongst other things) his BBC TV show ‘Hootenanny’ which is part of the BBC’s Hogmanay celebrations. Common to both Jam Houses and his other projects is the aim to increase audience engagement with excellent live music.
