Dogs may find it tricky to find Edinburgh accommodation, as they’re not known for their emailing and phone skills. Holyrood Park is a brilliant introduction to Edinburgh, with rolling hills, lochs and green space, all in the middle of Edinburgh, by Holyroodhouse Palace and the Scottish Parliament.

Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed and Siberian Huskies are the stunning dog-athletes which are responsible for pulling their ‘driver’ on 3-wheel rigs around set courses in Holyrood Park. Goodness knows how the infamous Edinburgh traffic wardens will deal with misparked dog rigs – Edinburgh parking arrangements are well worth making before you arrive!

Engineer your time so you include all the Hogmanay events that you can while you’re in town, maybe if you’ve got the kids you’d like the New Year’s Day One o’clock Run, or if you’re up as a group you could head to The Hoog and then take New Year’s Day easy!
