Edinburgh International Rugby Fixtures 2008

For a country of only 5 million, Scotland has a team that punches above its weight in international rugby. As evidence of this, they are the 2008 holders of the Calcutta Cup, a tournament that is just between England and Scotland rugby union teams.

Congratulations to New Zealand for winning the 2008 Emirates Rugby 7s (May 31-June 1, Edinburgh, Murrayfield). Scotland beat Fiji meanwhile, a first for them in the 7s competition. New Zealand already had the cup before play started - as this was the 6th trophy they had won of the 2007/8 season's eight IRB tournaments.

Scotland International Rugby Fixtures to look out for...

• North America rugby matches in the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn test taking place in Canada and America in 2009. Includes Scotland Vs New Zealand All Blacks (8 November); and Scotland Vs South Africa (15 November)
• Scotland team to tour Argentina: 7 June (Rosario) and 14 June (Buenos Aires). This is the first full Scotland team visit in 14 years. It will be well worth watching Scotland take on the might of the (as of 3rd best rugby side in the world
• 6 Nations Scotland Matches have been announced: Wales (8 February 2009), Italy (28 February 2009) and Ireland (14 March 2009). Tell your valentine that you’ll spend Valentine’s Day 2009 with them. That way they might let you spend all the other weekends in February and March watching Scotland’s Rugby team do us proud. Just don’t tell your beloved that the only reason you’re staying home for Valentine’s Day is because the France / Scotland match is in Tolouse.
