EICA Climbing on Up

Ratho’s Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA) is bidding to host the 2013 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Championships, currently being held in China.

The EICA also hopes to hold a leg of the 2011 Climbing World Cup. Edinburgh Leisure, who now run the world-class venue, have boosted chances by ensuring there are now 2 competition walls, with horizontal overhangs.

600 seats will be lost from Scotland’s Home of Rugby. Big screens will replace supporters in Edinburgh's West End stadium from mid-November 2008 onwards. Regular supporters are to be rewarded for their loyalty by being rejected from their long-held seats in Edinburgh’s rugby centre.
